Red Ginger Suntree

Most of the time me and my friends go to the Red Ginger in Melbourne Square or order from there. From now on, I guess I'd be more than happy to drive extra 10 minutes to be here as each dish is FANTASTIC, authentic southern Chinese cuisine. Steamed Red Snapper is sooooo fresh and tender. The red oil in the cucumber salad is the key success and you'll want to package it home so make your home. Spicy chicken will definitely satisfy anyone craves for the pungent and hot. So it is the Hot and Spicy Tofu. In winter, no one shall miss the stewed brisket: tender, well-seasoned, and mixed with a variety of precious vegetables such as water chestnut. My friend is a vegetarian who also ordered some garlic pan-fried vegetables, which are also highly recommended. Exquisite oriental interior design, friendly stuff, and superb service. No.1 Chinese/Asian cuisine in Melbourne.

My wife and I wanted to have a nice sit-down meal. We used to live very close to the restaurant. And have frequented often. We looked online for their menu and saw traditional Chinese fare. So we went about 3PM on a Sunday. They gave use the lunch menu and I asked for the dinner. Reviewing it was lacking in what we saw online. I ordered from the dinner menu and was thinking that I would receive a large portion. What I got was a lunch portion and charged the dinner price. the service was subpar at best there were only 4 other customers dining in and 2 pick up. One would think that a simple task of checking water wouldn't be a laborious task especially if you were adding a 20% gratuity. Additionally, we ordered a Togo items. When the bill came, they have suggested a 20% gratuity on the full amount. Historically I don't pay a gratuity on take out. Then she felt insulted that I only tipped on our dine in portion. realistically I could have gone to a straight take out place got more food for less and about the same service. It is a shame that what was a good place to go has now an overpriced establishment. Just a suggestion if you have items online have it on your menu. when someone orders from the dinner menu and charged that price they should be told if it is anything else. It is sad that the choices of sit-down (not buffet, Japanese, sushi, Thia, Vietnamese or take out with 2-4 table) Chinese restaurants are so limited in Brevard County (there might be 6 not counting 2 red gingers).

I spent 4 days in downtown Tampa for the FL Bar Exam and got spoiled having okonomiyaki and bao (with different meat fillings, red bean filling, coconut cream filling, but also a breakfast bao, hamburger bao and bbq bao). When I returned to Viera West, I wanted bao badly but a nearby search in Grubhub found this place (but no bao pics on the app) so I was confused. Still, the menu intrigued me and the reviews revealed why it’s priced higher than Hop Bo, Thai Hana and my more local Asian restaurants. On Sunday, I had made rice in my zojinshi and stir fry mushrooms,zucchini and cabbage in my wok but I was missing meat so I resolved to get some on Monday. On Monday afternoon, I placed a Grubhub order for pickup on my way home from work. The restaurant is located in the strip-of-stores plaza next to the ALDI plaza in Suntree so I took US1 North then Pineda to Wickham. Pickup was simple with not much of a greeting but I was still in my work clothes with badge and even I don’t talk to LEO/cops when off-duty so I get it. While waiting for my packaged dinner, I noticed the bar had 2 elderly couples being regaled by the younger male bartender. There were tables in the room to the left of the hostess lectern; the tables were stylishly set with white tablecloths, cloth napkins and water goblets awaiting a dinner crowd. It looks like a fine place for a date night if this food is as good as the reviews, I thought. I decided to try 2 menu items I’ve not had before: zhong’s dumplings and shredded pork peking style. I was NOT disappointed. I’ve no idea who Zhong is but these 5 dumplings bearing his name were sweet yet spicy, seasoned with scallions, and filled with meat. I can definitely see why they’re $12/$13 per order - they’re the bomb! As for the shredded pork Peking style (which I added atop my own cooked white rice despite my order coming with their white rice because I really just wanted the meat; I’ll eat their rice later), it was also sweet-spicy delicious (I ordered medium spice, but I think I’ll go spicier next time). The amount in the photo is not even half of what was in the flat to-go container. I thought I’d eat seconds but all 5 dumplings, a portion of shredded pork Peking style, stir fry vegetables and white rice was filling enough. I’ve got enough pork for leftovers. In my package was a card about the quality of their food (perhaps one reason for the higher price point), which was appreciated. It also had a QR code for their menu so I used my phone’s camera to pull it up and lo and behold! They serve steamed pork dumplings like the dinner bao I had in Tampa - which is what I was looking for all along! Maybe if the Grubhub app had a photo (hint, hint) or the hostess offered a physical takeout menu, I would’ve ordered this on Monday before even leaving the restaurant. Oh well, looks like I have another order to place with Red Ginger…

Good food, fresh veggies and fast accurate delivery. They deliver, you don't need grub hub (save yourself $6 or give to the driver instead!) Locally owned and run, have japanese & Chinese styles of Asian food (no cartilage or anything unfamiliar to the American palate no worries!) Great flavors, good textures, great portions and consistency.
